Activity in Stateline and Zephyr Cove is central to the lake. Lake Tahoe is 22 miles long with 72 miles of shoreline. The lake’s waters remain cool year-round, with temperatures reaching a maximum of 68 degrees Fahrenheit and a minimum of 41 degrees. Lake Tahoe never freezes due to constant water movement.

Zephyr Cove is known for its historic resort, which has been in operation for more than 80 years. Zephyr Cove offers visitors access to sandy lakefront beaches, boat rentals, jet skiing, sailing, fishing and more. Also located in the area is the Zephyr Point Conference Center. The center provides a breathtaking setting for conferences, retreats, meetings and training events.

A favorite local activity is golf and opportunities are plentiful, with nine courses located within the Lake Tahoe area. The stunning nine-hole Glenbrook Golf Course was the state’s first. Glenbrook’s course was also rated one of the most enjoyable nine-hole courses in the world by Golf Digest magazine. The nearby and highly rated Edgewood Golf Course is home to the yearly American Century tournament, the largest Celebrity Golf Tournament in the US. Edgewood was named one of the top 100 golf courses in the country by Golf Digest.

The South Lake Tahoe area is served by its own airport and is approximately an hour from the Reno International Airport. Ground transportation is mainly by car, but bus lines and trains also serve the area.

Stateline students are served by the Douglas County School District, which offers an elementary, middle and high school. It also has its own private preschool and elementary school.

Entertainment abounds in Stateline and Zephyr Cove. These areas are a short distance away from six 24-hour casinos offering everything from gaming to dining, live music, entertainment, comedians, magic shows and much more.
